About the Creator

Nick Sortor is an independent journalist and conservative commentator known for his bold, unfiltered coverage of political and national security issues on X (formerly Twitter). His style is direct, patriotic, and often inflammatory, resonating with right-leaning audiences through viral posts that amplify pro-America narratives. While he has built credibility among supporters for on-the-ground reporting, mainstream outlets view him as partisan with limited fact-checking rigor.

What's This About?

The post quotes Fox News host Pete Hegseth celebrating a U.S. military strike that delivered 'Death FROM America' to Iran's regime, which has long chanted 'Death to America' since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. This slogan originated in protests against the Shah, symbolizing anti-American sentiment fueled by events like the 1953 CIA-backed coup and the U.S. Embassy hostage crisis, and remains a staple in Iranian state rhetoric and murals. Hegseth's pun flips the phrase triumphantly, highlighting perceived American retaliation amid ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions.

🔥Why It's Trending

The post is trending due to its viral appeal amid reports of recent U.S. strikes on Iranian targets or proxies, tapping into patriotic fervor and Hegseth's rising profile as a Trump ally. Timing coincides with escalating Middle East conflicts involving Iran-backed groups like the Houthis, making the ironic reversal highly shareable. Its provocative 'goes hard' endorsement boosts engagement on X among conservative users.

💡Fun Facts

  • 1"Death to America" originated in 1979 Iranian Revolution protests, first as "Death to the Shah" before targeting the U.S.[1]
  • 2Iran officially translates it as "Down with America" to soften its image internationally, especially post-9/11[1][2]
  • 3The chant spread beyond Iran to groups like Taliban in Pakistan and Osama bin Laden supporters after his 2011 death[1]
  • 4During brief diplomatic thaws, like under Obama, Iranian leaders muted the chant at official events[3]
  • 5Public opinion in Iran is nuanced; polls show less anti-Americanism among citizens than regime rhetoric suggests[2]

NEW: The manifesto for alleged White House Correspondents’ Dinner gunman Cole Allen has been released. In the manifesto, Allen mocked Secret Service for being "incompetent" and for the poor security at the hotel. Here is the manifesto, in part, per the New York Post: "Hello everybody! So I may have given a lot of people a surprise today. Let me start off by apologizing to everyone whose trust I abused. ... On to why I did any of this: I am a citizen of the United States of America. What my representatives do reflects on me. And I am no longer willing to permit a ped*phile, rap*st, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes. ... Administration officials (not including Mr. Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest Secret Service: they are targets only if necessary, and to be incapacitated non-lethally if possible (aka, I hope they’re wearing body armor because center mass with shotguns messes up people who *aren’t* Hotel Security: not targets if at all possible (aka unless they shoot at me) ... Rebuttals to objections: Objection 1: As a Christian, you should turn the other cheek. Rebuttal: Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial. I’m not a schoolkid blown up or a child starved or a teenage girl abused by the many criminals in this administration. ... Thank you all for everything. Sincerely, Cole “coldForce” “Friendly Federal Assassin” Allen PS: Ok now that all the sappy stuff is done, what the hell is the Secret Service doing? Sorry, gonna rant a bit here and drop the formal tone. Like, I expected security cameras at every bend, bugged hotel rooms, armed agents every 10 feet, metal detectors out the wazoo. What I got (who knows, maybe they’re pranking me!) is nothing. No damn security. Not in transport. Not in the hotel. Not in the event. Like, the one thing that I immediately noticed walking into the hotel is the sense of arrogance. I walk in with multiple weapons and not a single person there considers the possibility that I could be a threat. The security at the event is all outside, focused on protestors and current arrivals, because apparently no one thought about what happens if someone checks in the day before. ... Video: @AsraNomani

I was with my friend @BarackObama in 2007, the day he, as a candidate, was assigned Secret Service protection, Laura, because of the intense nature and volume of threats against him. We've seen Dems and Rs targeted. This is an American problem. So maybe it's you who should give it a rest?

NEW: Cole Allen spewed anti-Christian and anti-Trump rhetoric on his social media accounts, said he wanted to target the Trump admin in his manifesto, according to CBS News. According to Allen’s sister, he sent the manifesto to his family before the incident. Allen had also attended a No Kings rally in California and was a part of the group named 'The Wide Awakes,' per Fox News. Allen fired a total of 5 to 8 shots during the incident. He was not struck. He traveled by train from Los Angeles to Chicago, then from Chicago to Washington, D.C. According to a senior U.S. official, one of his family members notified police about his manifesto. Allen did *not* mention the White House Correspondents' Dinner in the manifesto. The writings were reportedly written on paper and found in his hotel room.
